Books can give boys that sense of adventure they crave. Even though most of today’s youth choose to see a movie or play a game, books can still provide the same satisfaction — perhaps even more. So, the next time you want to choose a book for a boy, or if you are a boy in search of a good read, take the following list of books into consideration.

Three-Musketeers.jpg

The Three Musketeers is a good book about friendship, morality, and staying true to your beliefs even in dark times. Written by Alexander Dumas and published in 1844, the book is a masterpiece of its time. The book not only depicts the hard times the French people were facing, but also the courage of the three characters and how they chose to fight when everybody else were ready to give up. The reason this book is a good book for boys is that the book describes terrific fighting scenes and great quests experienced by the main characters.

Shogun.jpg

Shogun written by James Clavell depicts Japanese culture in feudal Japan. Published in 1975, the book is brilliant and it should be a favourite book of any boy. Some parts of the book are abundant in philosophy, while others describe scenes of war and even love. The book has everything and it’s the first book that opens James Clavell’s sagas about Japan. Other books from the saga for those who are interested in Japanese culture, or who like the style of Clavell, include Tai-Pan, Gai-Jin, and Noble House.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is a science fiction book perfect for any boy. Written by Jules Verne, an author ahead of his time, the book portrays the adventures of Captain Nemo and his submarine Nautilus. The book is considered by critics as a masterpiece and few science fiction authors have managed to reach the same literary craftsmanship. Published in 1870, the book not only manages to entertain us, but also puts our imagination to the test, by taking it to the limit and even beyond.

The-Body.jpg

The Body is another great novel about friendship, adventures, and childhood. Stephen King manages to create a masterpiece through a story told by Gordon LaChance, one of the main characters. The man who is about 30 years old describes an adventure that happened during his childhood when a boy disappeared and he and his friends started a quest to find him or his body. Published in 1982, the book became a classic and it was even adapted into a movie, which was also popular.

Winnetou.jpg

Winnetou is a great adventure book written by Karl May and published in 1893. The book has 3 volumes and it follows the chief of an Apache tribe and his friend Old Shatterhand. The Indian is a very brave, moral, and kind man, and the book cannot be equaled by any other book on the same subject. Reading Winnetou is like experiencing the adventures yourself because Karl May creates a very realistic atmosphere, which will definitely keep boys reading.
