Books are great tools for teaching your children about morals and compassion, and for increasing your child’s imagination, building your child’s character and personality, and improving your child’s reading skills (and therefore writing skills). No matter if your child reads for fun or for school, reading a book will definitely help your child. Here is a list of books that should every child should read.
White Fang
by Jack London is not only a great book for children but also a good book for adults; it is a classic. The book, published in 1906, provides a wonderful experience and a great adventure that will keep your child entertained. The story is about a dog that is half-wolf and the hardships he goes through until finding a good master. The ending is particularly good.

Gulliver's Travels
by Jonathan Swift, published in 1726, is another adventure book that your children will enjoy reading. I remember staying up at night just to finish it because it is such a great story. The book is divided into four parts, each more interesting than the previous part. Gulliver’s Travels focuses on the adventures of Lemuel Gulliver and it’s a book that both adults and children should read. Besides being an adventure book, it is also a satirical book that focuses on human nature. There is much to learn from this book and it can be a great conversation starter about morality, politics, and human perception.

Robinson Crusoe
is probably a story we all remember. When I was young, I remember reading this book many times, that’s how great it is. It was written by Daniel Defoe in 1719 and it depicts the story of a man who starts an expedition to get slaves from Africa, which ends really badly. His ship is destroyed during a storm and he wakes up on an island, alone. The great part of the book starts from this point and you also start wishing that it will never end. Robinson Crusoe makes a perfect gift for your child because it teaches them about religion, morality, solitude, and other themes that will give your child a better understanding of life.

David Copperfield
by Charles Dickens is another of those books you’ll never forget. The feeling it gives you will stay for the rest of your life and no other book will be able to reach it. It seems that the novel, published in 1850, is almost an autobiographical novel and it follows the life of the main character from childhood until he becomes an adult. The intensity of the book, the sense of reality so perfectly depicted, and the emotions the main character has, all make this book a great book for children.
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
by Mark Twain brings back fond memories and it will probably be the same for your children. It’s definitely worth reading and your children will probably thank you for this book. The book was published in 1876 and tells the story of a boy and his adventures in a small town. This is one of the greatest adventure stories ever written and it will surely make reading fun for your child.
