If you are looking for gift ideas for the man in your life, or if you are a man looking for a good read, then you might enjoy the following list of my “Top 5 Books for Men”. These books are not only good books for men, but also classic books everyone should read.

Kane-and-Abel.jpg

Kane and Abel is a book written by Jeffrey Archer that was published in 1979. This book tells the story of two men who were born on the same day and who manage to influence the financial world. One man, WL Kane, is the son of a banker from Boston, and has an amazing ability for business. The other man, Abel Rosnovski, is a poor boy who manages to get wealthy despite great hardships. The book shows Jeffrey Archer’s storytelling talents; it is one of his best novels and is especially a good book for men.

American-Psycho.jpg

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis is about a successful business man who has a very gruesome hobby: he likes to murder women (but in a very clean way). As the novel proceeds, Ellis describes his murders, which contain images of torture, assault, and even cannibalism. Although this book is a shocking novel (in the literal sense), the story is intriguing. Published in 1991, the book is beautifully written. The story was also made in to a movie, which was acclaimed by the critics. This is a good book for men who want something original to read.

Great-Gatsby.jpg

The Great Gatsby, written by F Scott Fitzgerald and published in 1925, is a classic book about Nick Carraway, a man who moves to New York. This book is considered to be one of the best American novels and some consider it the diamond of American Literature. The book not only made F Scott Fitzgerald famous, but also managed to raise American Literature in the eyes of worldwide critics. Do not let the book’s reputation as a “high school reader” put you off; this book is an excellent book for everyone, and is an especially good book for men looking for a page-turner and a reminder of the American dream.

Brothers-Karamazov.jpg

The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky is not only a great novel, but also a philosophical and psychological story. No other book equals the genius of Dostoyevsky when it comes to novels that have morality and God as the main themes. The book was published in 1880 and it is considered one of the great masterpieces of literature. It tells the tale of three brothers, all very different from each other, who are trying to live during 19th century Russia. This was Dostoyevsky’s final book, but it is probably his greatest.

The-Metamorphosis.jpg

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a good book for men who want to be in the “in-crowd”. But Kafka’s book should really be read by people who want to discover Kafka’s genius, who can truly understand this book, and who can appreciate the book for its real value. The book begins with the image of a man who finds himself one morning transformed into an insect. The novel, published in 1915, is part of absurdist fiction, but it can also be considered a philosophical novel. This is a good book for men who like philosophy and unconventional books.
