Some people think books are boring. If you’re one of these people, then here is a list of the funniest books I have read that might make you change your opinion.

Wilt by Tom Sharpe is the story of a frustrated and odd professor who is abused and harassed by his own wife. The story follows professor Wilt through some strange events that attract the attention of inspector Flint, who is absolutely convinced that Wilt is a murderer (or worse) because of Wilt’s odd behavior. The book involves hilarious comic situations and a great turn of events that will keep you guessing. The book was published in 1976 and became one of the first books in a series of five. A sixth book will be published some time in 2010.

Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination by Helen Fielding is the story of a reporter who follows a man she considers sexy, Pierre Ferramo, to Los Angeles. What she doesn’t know is that he might be a terrorist and she is the perfect victim. She follows Pierre to Sudan, Egypt, and Honduras, risking her life and ultimately finding that he isn’t the man she thought he was. The book is vivid in its descriptions and includes many funny conversations. But the best part is Olivia’s imagination and her plans regarding anything she comes across. The book was published in 2004. It is written by the same author who wrote Bridget Jones and in the same amusing style.

Letters from a Nut by Ted L Nancy is a collection of letters sent by the author to different companies, institutions, agencies, and sports teams. The humor book also contains the answers to those letters. What’s amazing about this book is that the letters are so crazy and outrageous. But the funniest part is that the recipients answer these letters seriously and politely. The book was published in 2001 and it has an introduction from Jerry Seinfeld, who some people believe is Ted L Nancy. Whether Nancy is Seinfeld or not doesn’t matter; what matters is that this is a book you don’t want to miss!

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby is the story of a 30-year-old man who has a record store but who is still living in his adolescent years. The book has a lot of music and movie references and many comic commentaries about them. It is also a great love story and an entertaining struggle of a person trying to grow-up by remembering his relationships and his breakups. It was published in 1996 and it was also adapted in a movie starring John Cusack, which made the book more popular.

Private Parts by Howard Stern is written in the same controversial style we are used to with Howard Stern. The book is an autobiography, but not your ordinary autobiography. The book is very amusing and has become a bestseller. Whether or not you like Stern, you should read this book — if not for the subject then for the entertainment. The book was published in 1993.
