Here are my thoughts on my personal selection of the 5 best new release books.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinney, released in November 2010, is the sequel to Kinney’s books about the boy who has a miserable time in school and during puberty. The story is about the boy's becoming an adolescent and about everything he has to face once he hits that torrid time in his life. Written with the same tone as the volumes before it, this book is a good gift idea for your soon-to-be adolescent son, or as an addition to your own library.

The Grand Design by Stephen Hawking, released in September 2010, has already created a lot of controversy. In this new book, Hawking tries to answer questions like “Why is there a universe?”, “Why is there something rather than nothing?”, and “Why do we exist?” Hawking does a really good job at explaining everything for people who don’t have a physics degree. The book has received many positive reviews but also a lot of negative reaction from religious groups because it denies the existence of a Creator.

Mini Shopaholic: A Novel by Sophie Kinsella, released in September 2010, is written in typical Kinsellan style. One of the inventors of chicklit, Kinsella now gives us the story of Rebecca Brandon, a woman who is obsessed with shopping. Unfortunately for Rebecca, her family’s finances crash and she has to curtail her spending habits. She also has to think about a birthday party she has to plan on a budget, which doesn’t sound good at all. If you liked Kinsella’s earlier novels, then you will like this new release; and if you are a shopaholic, you might stop shopping while reading this book, at least for a few days until you finish it.

Tracy Anderson's 30-Day Method: The Weight-Loss Kick-Start that Makes Perfection Possible is the newest weight loss book. Published in September 2010, the book’s advice will help you look gorgeous in that new dress this New Years Eve. If you are struggling with your weight, then this is the book you need. You should at least try the diet for 30 days. With a very versatile work-out plan, this diet might just be right for you.

Magic Tree House #44: A Ghost Tale for Christmas Time written by Mary Pope Osborne is a good book for Christmas, especially for your son or daughter. Released in September 2010, the book is the newest adventure involving Charles Dickens. But how will our heroes help such a famous writer and a person who already has everything they need? You will have to get this book to find out the answer and read the latest adventures of Annie and Jack. What’s great about Mary Pope Osborne’s books is that she takes the reader into different times and cultures, helps the reader learn about famous people, and introduces the reader to different ideas in history. The new release is both entertaining and educational, especially for children from 9 to 12 years old.
